by Wolfgang Grulke

Wolfgang is a businessman with an abiding passion for marine life. Wolfgang recalls when, at the age of 15, he first donned a mask and 'ping pong ball snorkel' and drifted in the rock pools along South Africa's Natal coast. His international business career has enabled him to travel widely and he has spent many hundreds of hours underwater world-wide observing and photographing "the most complex, challenging and beautiful environment on the planet". He has developed a particularly close relationship with the Indian Ocean.

Wolfgang is an exhilarating and thought-provoking speaker on topics from business transformation to the technological revolutions, paradigm shifts to chaos, fractals and the dilemmas of modern management, and the sex life of fish! In the style of a Victorian raconteur Wolfgang brings fresh ideas and a breadth of thinking that is rare in today's focused and specialised world. He has talked on these topics in more than 20 countries. He has served on the management council of the JLB Smith Institute, one of the world's leading ichthyological research institutes, located in Grahamstown and serves on the Advisory Board of the Educational Trust of at the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town.

Wolfgang’s photo-journalism has been published widely and he and his wife, Teri Martin, are a regular contributors to Africa Geographic (formerly Africa - Environment and Wildlife, Discover Africa and Divestyle magazines. He has authored the marine biology section of Aladabra: Word Heritage Site. Aldabra is a unique Indian Ocean island where he has spent extended periods. His article "In Search of Simplicity" won the NACCA award for the best business article of the year and his article "From Value Chain to Marketspace" was awarded the AFSM International Writing Award (in the Professional Writers and Consultants category) in Boston.
